Limited edition print. Black on orange.

£39.00

This striking artwork originates from a vintage 1970s beekeeping equipment label, discovered in the workshop here at Furzedown Farm. Reimagined digitally by designer Emma Noble, it was hand screen-printed in collaboration with The Noble Bee and artist/printer Oli Fowler, using environmentally friendly, water-based inks on Colourplan 135gsm paper in ‘Rust Orange’ Printed with black ink. Each limited-edition print is individually numbered. The prints are limited to just 18 per colour.

About the image…

Simon Noble, founder of The Noble Bee and a third-generation beekeeper, discovered a dusty packet of vintage beeswax sheets while exploring the old workshop at Furzedown Farm a few years ago. On the packet, he spotted a fascinating label featuring six bees arranged in a perfect circle; an image ahead of its time, which we estimate dates to around 1970.

The label is of renowned ‘Steele & Brodie’ a Scottish based beekeeping equipment company which was founded in 1870 and ceased trading in 1998.
